Ruvan Wijesooriya

During Art Basel in Miami Beach, we offered an exclusive and immersive hour-long private session of Virtual Reality (VR) and Q&A with members of the 1 Hotel community. The centerpiece of this experience was a breathtaking four-minute VR journey through a series of abstract images bathed in beautiful colors and immersed in analog grain. Participants were transported to a new reality where they reported experiencing a wide range of physiological and emotional responses, such as relaxation, destressing, spiritual awakening, jogging memories, processing grief, and preparing for a state of flow.

The VR experience was accompanied by a tranquil soundtrack created by Gabriel Andruzzi from The Rapture, which added an extra layer of immersion and sensory stimulation. In addition, guests also had the opportunity to view a projection of Wijesooriya's Light Has Memory. This stunning visual work taps into humanity's pre-cosmic yearning to transcend our physical limitations and venture into the unknown. This innovative approach to experiencing tone and light created a powerful, enhanced visualization for the body of work.

To enhance the overall experience, 1 Hotel provided guests with cocktails and signed books of Ruvan Wijesoriya's Yucatan: Explore the Expansion of Space. This event was a unique opportunity for art lovers to engage with cutting-edge technology, immersive art, and expertly crafted cocktails while connecting with a like-minded community in a beautiful and inspiring setting.

Magnus Resch

For members of 1 Hotel, we invited them to meet art market economist, serial entrepreneur, and best-selling author Magnus Resch. At age twenty-two, Magnus co-ran an art gallery in Switzerland to finance his university career. He later created several ventures that leveraged technologies to solve inefficiencies in the art world. Magnus holds a Ph.D. in economics and lectures on art economics in the art world at Yale. He is the author of eight books on the art market, including How to Become a Successful Artist and his most recent book, How to Create and Sell NFTs. During this exclusive event for members only, he will discuss the fundamentals of how the art market works, how to invest in art, and how NFTs, Blockchain, and the metaverse can change the art market forever.  Members walked away with a signed copy of his newest book. Magnus also provided additional material to stay date, for example, by delivering the top Twitter accounts to follow, podcasts to listen to, or newsletters to subscribe to.

Delphine Diallo

For this exclusive event, members had the opportunity to attend a Q&A session with the talented artist and photographer Delphine Diallo, whose work aims to empower women and change the way female bodies are portrayed in art. They also received a free signed book of hers titled The Divine. Delphine spoke about her creative process and the philosophy behind her portraiture, which involves connecting with her subjects on an emotional level and spending more time speaking with them than photographing them. She also discussed her use of body painters, gems, and mask creators to add traditional mythology and spiritual symbols to her work. After the Q&A, members had the chance to get signed copies of Delphine's book "Divine," which showcases her powerful and inspiring portraits. It was an insightful and inspiring event that allowed members to gain a deeper understanding of Delphine's unique approach to portraiture and her commitment to empowering women through her art.
